The Giugiaro-styled DMC-12 features brushed-stainless-steel panels mounted on a fiberglass underbody and a steel backbone chassis. This example has been modified by the current owner with various cosmetics initially conceptualized for the movie by artist Ron Cobb with further refinement conducted by the film’s production team. Features include gullwing doors, side vent windows, and internally-illuminated ‘time travel coils’ that are mounted along the perimeter of the body. Mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, the rear-mounted 2,849cc V6 was designed and built by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo (PRV). Factory-rated output was 130 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque. Recent service included recommended maintenance including fluid flushes and replacement of belts, filters, and ignition components according to the selling dealer, who states that the fuel system was overhauled with replacement components and air-conditioning system was also serviced.
